FRWD@Bain is Bain & Company’s digital marketing practice. Sitting across our Technology and Analytics Group (TAG) and our Customer Strategy and Marketing (CSM group), our vision is to help put marketing front and center as the #1 growth driver of our clients’ business.

FRWD@Bain seeks a digital marketing leader responsible for meeting and exceeding expectations across multiple client partnerships. As a senior leader of our organization, the Director is an invaluable member of the client teams; taking complex marketing and business problems, going into the data to uncover actionable insights across the most holistic definitions of ‘digital marketing’, and translate these insights into roadmaps and test and learn plans for execution. In achieving this, the Director enables our clients realize real incremental value and develop best practice digital marketing capabilities.


The Director must bring a holistic approach to marketing transformation for our clients, bringing together breadth of experience across (ideally) digital media, and marketing technology

  • Digital media: The person will drive analysis and recommendations that guide media and overall marketing planning and strategy, has a deep expertise in digital channels / tactics, and decisions on what to and not to scale based on learning and potential relative value
  • Marketing technology: additionally, the Director drives the strategy and solution development for specific components of the tech stack, and guides clients on technology solution choices, selection criteria and vendor trade-offs. They also help to contribute to defining the implications to the client operating model, new roles and org implications, and define operating processes

A proven track record developing and contributing to successful, innovative and impactful marketing efforts is essential. The Director must be objective about what is best for each client situation and earn the trust and respect of all stakeholders throughout a client organization, including CMO’s, CFO’s and other agency partners where involved.


Digital media (30-40% of focus)

  • Media planning experience; preferably with a spike in expertise in any one or number of paid social, display, video, search, e-commerce
  • Maintain strong expertise in digital media landscape, including media partners/products and industry best practices.
  • Acts as a thought leader in media channels while maintaining strategic knowledge across all channels to provide support in execution.
  • Develop POVs and recommendations on a variety of topics to guide clients and partners
  • Oversight of campaign performance and effective communication of impact/learnings across client teams
  • Help training and enabling clients to execute at a high quality level while learning and growing

Marketing technology (60-70% of focus)

  • Experience assessing, architecting, and delivering marketing technology, data, and analytics solutions to clients at scale
  • Deep understanding of and thought leadership around the marketing technology and ad-tech landscape and players
  • Hands on experience with leading marketing cloud platforms and leading point solutions skewing towards data activation and campaign activation
  • Experience that includes managing 1st and 3rd party data and use of customer data platforms, DMP’s, A/B testing, cross channel campaign management, and decisioning engines
  • General understanding of ad-tech, including integration with DSP’s and bidding engines
  • Experience with marketing measurement tools focused on attribution and performance management
  • Comfortable working with business, IT, and marketing stakeholders


  • 15+ years experience in digital marketing, having transcended both areas of expertise in assessing, diagnosing, recommending and executing against new digital marketing solutions
  • Ability to think quickly and critically on a broad range of marketing technology and digital marketing topics across various verticals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with senior marketing leaders and C-level executives
  • Professional attitude and service orientation; team player
  • Willingness to travel
  • Prior experience in management consulting preferred
