Position Summary

 

This position will provide expert advice across Bain to ensure we can actively move talent across borders to serve our clients and pursue talent worldwide.  In addition, this position will manage the administration of the U.S. immigration program.

 

This person will be an internal expert who develops policies and processes and provides advice on immigration compliance for our offices.  The person will work closely with the entire talent management organization (e.g., Program Managers, Staffing Managers and Partners, HR, global and local Recruiting, Office Immigration Contacts) and communicates with Sr. Leadership on time sensitive complex issues

Responsibilities & Duties

 

Global Immigration:

  • Strategy
    • Develop and maintain policies and practices and provide expert advice to support our global talent movement around the world
    • Partner with Leadership, Staffing, Program Managers, Recruiting and HR on immigration practices and procedures
    • Educate Partners, HR, Staffing, Program Managers and our mobile employees on compliance issues and processes to work across boarders
    • Advise leadership on immigration trends and issues that affect Bain and develop BDPs/plans for a path forward
  • Policy and Compliance
    • Ensure Bain stays compliant in the ever changing global immigration laws and advise on business practices to adhere to the change in laws
    • Develop global practices and standards regarding work permits and visas
    • Act as an expert/advisor for local office immigration contacts on local immigration matters – e.g. permanent residence and citizenship support
    • Advise on best practices for Staffing, Recruiting and Mobility vis-a-vis immigration process for Bain offices
    • Maintain immigration guidelines for case work for distribution to HR, Staffing and Mobility Contacts and ensure guidelines are being met
    • Advise offices on immigration compliance for client teams working in locations where Bain does not have a physical presence; if necessary, advise leadership of when and for how long a team can stay in country
    • Act as part of leadership team for immigration compliance when considering a  new Bain office
    • Advise Managers and Partners to ensure teams are compliant and following best practices when serving clients across boarders
      • Develop and maintain ‘doing business’ profiles for high risk compliance countries
  • Staffing Support
    • Assist with global visa issues for casework
    • Assess proposed candidates to identify employees who are ‘visa ready’ or are able to obtain work authorization quickly for case work

U.S Immigration:

  • Oversee the administration of the U.S. Immigration program
  • Maintain and continually improve the process of communication on immigration compliance and procedures.  Update and propose changes to immigration policies and procedures, create user-friendly tools to educate managers, foreign nationals, recruiters on current immigration rules and Bain policy.
  • Supervise the Specialist, Global Immigration and Senior Coordinator, Global Mobility, to ensure we can hire and actively move talent inbound and across the U.S. to serve our clients and pursue talent worldwide
  • Assist Specialist as needed to ensure timely filings, especially during peak periods
  • Responsible for VP, Principal and Manager green cards (i.e. EB-1 multinational manager petitions)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and:
    • Minimum of 7+ year’s relevant international business exposure. Knowledge of global immigration practices and laws a plus
    • 3+ years of exposure in international immigration preferred
    • Minimum of 2 years of managing a team/team member
  • Multi-National firm experience required
  • Professional services experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and organizational skills and attention to detail with Firm leadership
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including tact and diplomacy
  • Passion about working with and learning from individuals from various countries/cultures
  • Working knowledge in, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Proven ability to work productively both independently and as an integral member of a  team
  • Ability to perform multiple complex tasks
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Ability and willingness to attend calls to accommodate
