    BIE Overview

The BIE is a global community of change-makers, entrepreneurs, futurists, venture capitalists and innovation experts who connect with one another to push the boundaries of digital transformation and innovation. The BIE provides a platform for start-ups, corporate business leaders, investors, and thought leaders to establish mutually beneficial relationships as they work to unlock the full value of emerging digital technologies.

    Position Summary

    The BIE Ecosystem Manager will lead a team managing bespoke and large program creations that connect our clients with the broader ecosystem of leading industry and digital innovators and venture capital firms. The role also includes supporting the buildout of ecosystems partnerships.


    Drive commercial activity for BIE with other BIE Leaders/Bain Partners

    • Develop customized proposal materials according to specific client needs (e.g. context, trek agendas, areas of focus)

    Design transformational experiences for clients

    • Identify Bain Partners to participate in workshops and weigh-in on the agenda
    • Include the right Bain capabilities (e.g. ADAPT) to support workshops
    • Think holistically about sets of activities to make clients’ visits a success for corporate clients as well as the ecosystem

    Deliver client work

    • Manage the team to execute on BIE products for clients
    • Serve projects in-location with Bain teams when BIE team members are part of a broader Bain engagement

    Lead new product development and deployment efforts

    • Co-create and lead IP and product development for BIE Ecosystem Services
    • Drive disruptive technology content both internally and externally
    • Identify potential new offerings
    • Develop the ‘playbook’ for delivery and support of successful client outcomes
    • Develop business cases and implementation plans for new product roll-out
    • Oversee product performance

    Support and drive a vibrant ecosystem of partners (e.g., startups, VCs, etc.)

    • Work with other teams to ensure top of funnel pipeline in identifying startups and solutions
    • Maintain relationships with the venture community as well as thought leaders and influencers who we may invite to our immersion sessions and/or ask to serve as experts on some of our projects

    Manage Ecosystem team consisting of Ecosystem Team Leaders, Ecosystem Specialists, and Partnership leaders in Americas and other geographies as required to deliver on the innovation agenda

    • Drive expertise across the team
    • Co-develop training processes for new team members along with Talent Head
    • Interview potential candidates

    Support the creation of innovation tools, databases, and other projects as needed

    • Identify other necessary tools for BIE tech stack
    • Evolve architecture and use of existing tools e.g. Salesforce platform
    • Play relevant role in developing new and proprietary tools


    • BA or equivalent undergraduate degree required; graduate degree a plus
    • Ideal candidates will have 10+ years professional experience, including at least two years at venture capital firm as well as 2+ years in consulting
    • Strong interpersonal skills as you will be interfacing across many areas and levels of Bain
    • Ability to maintain a structured working style in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
    • Experience managing teams of people across functional areas
    • Willingness to be flexible to meet the needs of the practice and case teams
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong presentation and facilitation skills – ability to communicate with senior business executives both in person and over the phone
    • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities
    • Extensive network in Bay Area and broader Americas venture community
    • Digital and tech expertise either from venture capital or start-up experience
    • Ability to travel at times and occasionally work onsite during client engagements
