    Position Summary

    The Global Strategy and Operations Manager role is a strategic talent priority for Bain as the company builds out significant businesses with solution platforms that include software, data and experts.  The Global Strategy and Operations Manager is a sought-after leader with deep operational expertise who accelerates the growth of the practice, with additional expertise in overseeing product innovation, capability and community building.

    The Global Strategy and Operations Manager for the Results Acceleration Practice reports to the Global Capability Leader. This role oversees all strategic and operational activities at the practice-level, drives practice operations standards and consistency across the solution teams, and supports the solution agenda for the practice.  This role will oversee a team of junior FTEs to create, build and deploy important operational processes, oversee product innovation, support capability building for affiliates, and help build the practice community.


    Essential Functions

    Practice Strategy

    • Work with the Global Practice Leader to set the practice strategy and ensure progress towards the practice ambition, including working closely with Solution/Product Leaders, Regional Capability Leaders and their teams to get input on solution and regional needs, prioritize initiatives and remove roadblocks
    • Serve as a thought partner for the Global Capability Leader on changes to the practice required to meet strategic goals, including but not limited to operating model, talent, solutions, tools; maintain a perspective on what competitors are doing in the Results Acceleration space, working closely with Solution Leaders who will have competitive intelligence related to their specific areas
    • Set the annual budget and manage the planning processes for the Results Acceleration Practice, including working with the Global Practice Leader and the Finance Team to resource practice priorities and make-tradeoffs to reach the strategic goals of the practice as a whole
    • Determine the talent requirements for the Results Acceleration Practice, working closely with Regional Capability Leaders and Solution/Product Leaders; manage affiliate allocations and make trade-offs to balance capacity and set the plan for expert hiring to achieve overall Results Acceleration Practice goals

    Practice Operations

    • Help the Global Practice Leader develop a cohesive leadership team across RAP and maintain that alignment with the right processes, communications and cadence of interactions
    • Establish practice management metrics and continuously improve processes, reduce value-add activities, and drive efficiencies across practice; primary liaison with the Reporting and Analytics Center of Excellence to ensure tools and data required to run the practice is available and functioning
    • Define standards across practice in all operational activities and ensure consistent implementation across practice teams
    • Manage process for HLAs and reviews across the practice, including gathering and consolidating input from solutions, regions and from other practices (through interlock process); support Global Capability Leader in writing drafts of practice HLAs (as needed)
    • Manage the Results Acceleration Practice messaging, communications and engagement with key stakeholders within and outside Bain; ensure consistency of messaging and communications across RAP Solutions and Regions
    • Manage the drumbeat of communications, including newsletters: ensure the appropriate cadence of engagement with affiliates and stakeholders, coordinating with solutions and regions to balance their needs with RAP level goals and to manage how much affiliates can absorb
    • Manage RAP-level meetings and calls, including setting the agenda with the Global Capability Leader, assign content to owners in practice, work with Events Center of Excellence to support event; primary lead for Worldwide Partner and Regional Leadership Meetings
    • Set-up and organize trainings for practice. Coordinate closely with product/sector leaders and managers. Track affiliate training attendance
    • Recruit, hire and lead team that supports operational activities within the practice, including their professional development
    • Support the change management journey for the practice as the operating model evolves to meet new strategic needs

    Solution management

    • Set and maintain the RAP solution and product architecture
    • Operate a scale agile innovation process which includes prioritizing across RAP solutions, sharing best practices and ensuring open and frequent communications between the solution teams
      • Work with Global Capability Leader to create holistic view and plan for RAP IP, identifying interdependencies and connections
      • Set ‘what good looks like’ for Solution/Product Development – the content elements, the process and ensure it is consistently implemented across solution and product teams; liaise with Product Reinvention central team
      • Serve as a ‘scrum of scrums’ across the Results Acceleration Practice Solution Teams; develop a combined backlog across solutions and prioritize items based on practice strategy and needs
    • Coordinate with lead Solution Practice Managers to ensure solutions are executing on their IP and properly collaborating on the overlap topics
    • Serve as primary point of contact for the Results Acceleration Team to secure and mobilize persistent IP teams/resources; make trade-offs on where to deploy these teams with the Global Capability Leader to meet practice goals
    • Manage the Bain ecosystem for Solution/Product development and support, including serving as primary point of contact with the Next Generation and Partnership Teams on results Acceleration needs and appropriate resourcing; use input from Solution teams but serve as the single point of contact for prioritization and trade-offs
    • Manage process and channels for sharing IP and innovation across the RAP solutions

    Required Qualifications

    • MBA degree
    • 10+ years business experience
    • 3-5 years supervisory experience
    • Product development/ management experience
    • Operations experience
    • Experience with agile innovation

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Relevant experience serving in an operations department or as Chief of Staff
    • Proven self-starter (comfortable with what could be a remote supervisor and team) with demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
    • Skilled at identifying opportunities for commercial growth and transformation and driving change through an organization by indirectly influencing multiple stakeholders
    • Ability to develop and drive pragmatic business insights supported by complex business research and analysis in fast-paced environment
    • Knowledge of, and experience with, the leading business and analytic tools
    • Proficient in developing audience-right high quality presentations
    • Collaborative – someone who knows how to work with and through others to drive results and make change happen, as well is customer service orientated
    • Entrepreneurial, proactive, and productive - someone who knows how to prioritize what needs to be done and rallies colleagues to get things accomplished; “roll up the sleeves” type of attitude
