  • Position Summary:


    The BABs (Blacks at Bain)/LATBA (Latinos at Bain) Recruiter is an important part of the Bay Area Recruiting team. This role will manage the full life of the recruiting cycle for our Bay Area offices.  They will team with the other local Recruiters and work closely with our North American BABs/LATBA Recruiters to grow the Black and Latinx populations across both our undergrad and graduate level consulting staff.  They will also have onboarding and retention responsibilities to ensure that the talent we hire feel supported and thrive.

    We are seeking someone who is able to take ownership of events, programming and relationship building, and in time, will grow to develop and lead the strategic thinking of our efforts.

    Responsibilities and duties:

    1. Run current Bay Area diversity recruiting programs
      • Building Entrepreneurial Leaders (BEL): one week program in August for rising juniors of Black, Latinx, or American Indian decent
      • ExperienceBain Diversity West Coast: 1.5 day program in early August for Black and Latinx students matriculating into business school
    2. Organize on-campus events at Bay Area-run schools
      • Work with career services and diversity groups on campus to plan events at local Bay Area undergrad and MBA schools (case interview workshops, panels, office treks, etc)
    3. Identify and support candidates throughout recruiting pipeline
      • Work with school teams, former employees and North American BABs/LATBA team to identify high potential Black and Latinx Associate Consultant and Consultant recruits
      • Manage the introduction of high potential candidates to office teams and ensure connections are made with these candidates; monitor these relationships
      • Help prepare candidates for interviews through a series of case interview workshops and 1-on-1 calls with consulting staff
      • Support the closing process for Black and Latinx offerees for Bay Area
    4. Manage onboarding and retention throughout the year
      • Work with staffing team and other local stakeholders to ensure smooth integration of new Black and Latinx Associate Consultants and Consultants, including supplemental training and mentorship connections
      • Work with Bay Area BABs/LATBA team to plan internal events throughout the year for current consulting staff to facilitate relationship building
      • Work with office diversity champion and other local stakeholders in promoting D&I initiatives in the office e.g. ally engagement, D&I trainings, etc
    5. Develop new data-backed strategies to improve our diversity recruiting and onboarding/retention
      • Evaluate success of local recruiting programs and partnerships; prepare and analyze statistics on overall success, results by school, source, etc. and use findings to provide input to recruiting programs and strategy
      • Work with diversity affiliate groups to design and pilot potential new and innovative programs to grow our recruiting and retention
    6. Additional responsibilities
      • Liaise with central BABs/LATBA team on partnership conferences (i.e. MLT, Consortium, Jumpstart, etc) and manage relationships with priority candidates coming out of those events.  Introduce them to consulting staff and track/support them through the recruiting process.
      • Collaborate with the central BABs/LATBA and social media teams to contribute to our online diversity presence
      • Utilize recruiting systems for data entry/tracking, event management and reporting
      • Perform other duties and projects as assigned or as responsibilities dictate


    • Bachelor’s degree is required
    • A minimum of three-four years’ experience in a professional office environment is required - campus recruiting and/or diversity recruiting experience is highly preferred
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and project management skills
    • Advanced organizational skills – must be meticulous to details without losing sight of broader needs/activities. Ability to monitor and manage multiple inputs and multiple parties simultaneously with extreme precision. Proactive leadership is a must
    • Passion for and demonstrated experience driving impact on issues of diversity, equity and inclusion via recruiting and employee support activities
    • Ability to represent Bain to prospective candidates and interact with senior Bain management
    • Comprehensive knowledge of personal computers and their software applications is required
    • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals at all levels of the organization
    • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
    • Ability to work independently, as well as within teams
    • Flexibility with hours; ability to work overtime and evenings as needed
