    Department and Team Overview:

    Bain’s Global Financial Systems (GFS) department leads the maintenance and implementation efforts of the Finance organization’s 25+ financial applications.   GFS team members work in tandem with the IT and Finance user community to ensure all systems are operating at peak performance and that new business initiatives are constantly being considered in our applications through enhancements, upgrades and implementations.


    GFS team members are sought after members of the Finance community for participation on project teams due to their combined understanding of business functions, project management and technology.  We work on a steady queue of projects with timeframes ranging from short to long term.  We have staff in both our Boston and India offices, providing around the clock coverage to best respond to the needs of our Global community.


    Position Summary:

    This position is responsible for projects related to the development, implementation and maintenance of Bain Finance’s corporate performance management (CPM) systems.  These systems will initially be used for financial budgeting, workforce planning and revenue allocations with expansion to other functions expected in the future. Customers include local and Global Finance teams, firm management and other global departments.  The position also works closely with fellow Financial Systems analysts.


    Pre-launch responsibilities range from understanding and detailing user requirements, participating in design, testing, documenting and end user training.  Post-implementation administration tasks include expanding current builds, report writing, monitoring data integrity and maintaining security.


    To be successful, you will demonstrate an understanding of business needs, identify and communicate risks with recommendations to management and execute work to implement solutions. 

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Serve in the development, implementation and ongoing integrity of finance planning-related systems
    • Elicit user requirements and help define process flows and use cases
    • Develop and maintain structures (models, cubes, modules, hierarchies) in the CPM applications needed to carry out workforce and financial planning
    • Adapt current integration processes to accommodate changes in source systems and new business user requirements
    • Define and design data input sheets
    • Partner with reporting and Finance teams to set priorities, develop, test and roll out new/changed reports
    • Field and represent customer interests to influence prioritization of enhancement requests
    • Work independently or with vendors or internal technology teams to handle production support issues through resolution
    • Maintain and ensure system integrity and controls:  periodic testing, data load mapping/audits and user security
    • Provide ongoing user support: maintain fix lists, triage live user issues, hold feedback discussions
    • Collaborate to create test plans, conduct system testing and data conversions
    • Create presentations and perform end user training sessions
    • Create and maintain system documentation and policies
    • Enhance knowledge of technology and make recommendations in support of current objectives by keeping up-to-date with CPM platforms through membership in professional organizations, trade or user groups
    • Work with colleagues throughout the company to create ongoing partnerships with key business functions in order to define data and analytics standards, guidelines and best practices
    • Lead project teams:  report progress to operating team, recommend alternative strategies
    • Other duties as assigned


    • BS/BA degree in Finance, Accounting or IT with 5-7 years of progressive experience; CPA or MBA preferred
    • Experience using cloud-based solutions such as Anaplan, Workday or Oracle preferred
    • Demonstrated understanding of core accounting & IT concepts and practices
    • Experience writing and/or modifying financial reports
    • Strong communication skills with a customer service orientation and an ability to work well with all levels of the organization
    • High performance and standards as demonstrated by job experience
    • Ability to quickly grasp new technologies, tools and concepts
    • Prior systems implementation or conversion experience required
    • Enthusiastic team player; productive working independently or as part of a team
    • Analysis and design skills, critical thinking and analytical problem solving
