  • Opportunity to join a payroll team within a global management consulting firm. The payroll team is primarily responsible for accurate and timely calculation, processing and distribution of US and Canadian payrolls. This position will focus mainly on our Canadian payroll, but will have exposure to the US.

    • Take a significant role in the various payroll processes for Canada. Ensure all payroll considerations are addressed including pay rates, deductions, taxes, time information, etc. and that payrolls are processed timely and accurately.
    • Help to review HR data as well as deductions in the payroll processing system as well as time sheets to ensure the data is complete and accurate. Work with HR and employees proactively to ensure information is accurate.
    • Ensure that transactions are processed in compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as Canadian government agency regulations.
    • Ensure the specific processes/workflow are well documented to allow for appropriate cross training as needed and to ensure all payroll steps are followed timely and accurately. Responsible for enhancing and updating this documentation as needed.
    • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay calculations, taxes, deductions and benefits. Serve as a go-to service representative for many payroll related matters within the organization.
    • Develop specialized knowledge and skills related to tax and payroll issues. Apply skills and knowledge as needed to actively contribute or lead team projects and responsibilities as needed.
    • Work closely with HR to understand payroll related items.
    • Develop collaborative working realtionships with HR/Recruiting to allow for greater efficiencies and sharing of information.
    • Connect with HR Systems teams and third party support to troubleshoot issues as needed.
    • Help to identify and test new system enhancements as needed.
    • Process exceptions as required for compliance, work with Treasury on off-cycle payments and/or wires.
    • Perform accounting functions such as preparing journal entries and research to assist with reconciliations.
    • Work with accounting and FP&A in reporting and analysis of payroll related items as needed.
    • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or as responsibilities dictate.

    • Bachelor’s degree required, preferrably in accounting/finance.
    • One to three years of payroll experience required. Experience with Canada strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of payroll rules, regulations procedures and controls in an automated processing environment involving multiple entities operating in multiple geographies.
    • Knowledge and application of payroll withholding tax rules and regulations.
    • Proven ability to calculate payroll with accuracy, meeting all related deadlines.
    • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, utilized to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
    • Strong attention to detail.
