FRWD is currently based in Minneapolis but is focused on building out an EMEA presence with a hub in Bain’s London office.

    The Role: Expert, Marketing Technology


    FRWD@bain is looking for a seasoned professional with a track record of applying technology to generate invaluable real-time consumer learning and continuous improvement in marketing investment outcomes. Someone eager to take the next step in their career, contribute within a high-performing team, and is intrigued by a unique consulting/agency hybrid service model. Month to month experiences will typically range from very focused channel optimizations, to full transformations of larger organizations across strategy, audience segmentation, creative, data structure and sources, technology assessment and team capabilities. We are looking for someone who is excited to share their knowledge with the broader Bain and client teams, and connect the client’s marketing efforts to broader business outcomes. The person must want to help build and foster a healthy and innovative work environment, with a strong team focus and an ability to inject fun and humor even at the busiest times. We offer a competitive base salary and bonus.


    In FRWD@bain nomenclature, the Expert is responsible for leading internal and client teams to successful outcomes with relatively little day-to-day “management” oversight. The Expert is seen as an invaluable member of the client teams, helping move at pace through our “small moves” way of working. In some cases this role guides execution by other agencies or internal client teams, and in some cases by FRWD@bain. The Expert must objectively solve for each situation while earning trust without turf issues – sometimes including CMO’s, CFO’s and other agency partners.


    This particular Expert role often acts as a bridge builder between Marketing and IT. This position will work within a consulting team to break down silos, create understanding that enables faster decision making through a single unified view of audiences and their interactions with the brand. With other teams executing, this role creates the foundation for accessible, actionable data for daily creative, media, strategy and business investment decisions – the key enabler of today’s effective marketing system.



    • Inspire and deliver a consumer-centric insights machine, aka data foundation to support analysis and recommendations that guide marketing planning, brand strategy, budgeting decisions while enabling a rapid test>learn>scale approach
    • Ensure the right set of technological and architectural choices lead to data integration, activation/execution, sufficiency and enrichment
    • Execute with hands on the key board, and codify the processes/capabilities to scale where relevant (including technology solution evaluations and recommendations)
    • Be the team member who explains how data can be applied to drive more frequent daily/weekly/monthly actions by marketing teams for better results – teach, mentor, enable
    • Work across silos to prioritize the biggest impacts with the least effort or investment
    • Be a thought leader by staying externally connected with technology partners and best practices, and inspiring the FRWD and broader Bain and client teams in various forums – written POV’s, larger training/teaching events, informal coaching and mentoring
    • Leading execution of the day-to-day work at a client, including facilitating and prioritizing technology requests from marketing, translating between technical and marketing requirements, and ensuring marketing compliance with IT policies such as cybersecurity and privacy mandates
    • Deliver insights and business transformation opportunities for digital marketing and ecommerce operations


    Required skills:

    • 6+ years relevant marketing technologist experience or graduate degree relevant to the field
    • Intermediate Analytics skills including tools such as KNIME, Python, Power BI, and Tableau,
    • Programmatic buy-side platform knowledge, including a combination of; DMP, DSP, Analytics, Tag Management, Ad Fraud, Viewability, Brand Safety, Data sources, Attribution, Ad serving, Retargeting
    • Strong experience in Google Analytics, Google AdWords and working knowledge across major social media
    • Experience with Consumer Relationship Marketing (CRM) to win the shopper path to purchase and use data to deliver precision marketing to optimize consumer engagement and LTV
    • Experience building/acquiring, structuring and leveraging 1st through 3rd party data sets into paid media
    • Experience using data as a strategic choice for the business to identify use cases to build the business and fill gaps in data, processes, and systems to realize the value
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to use storytelling to influence decisions
    • Experience across a variety of key marketing IT areas, including Digital/e-Commerce domain knowledge ranging from SEM, SEO, digital media and programmatic, content management, CRM across channels, social insights and analytics, data visualization, marketing analytics and business intelligence
    • Willingness to travel
