  • Overview

The Information Technology (IT) Practice is a global capability that cuts across all industries. We look at technology issues through a strategic lens, in the broader context of our clients' business imperatives. In an era of rapid introduction of new technologies, the Practice is undergoing a fundamental transition with respect to IP development and product portfolio assortment. Increasingly, the Practice is helping clients navigate through digital transformations and the technology related decisions required to address their most complex challenges. Often this requires re-inventing client’s technology organization to accelerate innovation, modernizing their technology architecture to increase speed and agility, all within a responsible investment envelope.

Bain’s IT Practice is looking to hire a full-time Practice Area Manager (PAM) to manage operations and support the Regional Capability Leader in developing the IT Practice in EMEA.

The Practice Area Manager supports the IT practice in several ways: Long term business planning; commercial sales and pipeline management; codification of Bain points of view and analytic tools; rapid response to Partner and team requests for help; IP agenda and developing differentiated IP; IT affiliate and talent management; and meeting preparation.

The candidate must leverage the Regional Capability Leader, work directly (and credibly) with affiliated Partners to develop and market content, manage a dynamic mix of resources allocated through the regional staffing system (knowledge specialists and, on occasion, consulting case-team resources), and be credible with both case teams and, where needed, clients on areas of expertise (in selling and revenue-serving situations).

The position thus requires solid performance on value addition, client and team skills, and ability to drive independently and collaborate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders inside and outside the Practice. The PAM is expected to demonstrate a steady upward trajectory in the depth and scope of his/her contributions over time, and to increasingly be viewed as an “IT expert” in the region and across Bain (as well as contribute to Bain’s newest thinking).

The role requires entrepreneurial spirit, focus, perseverance and forward thinking to have an impact and to support the Practice within given resources.

This position reports to the London-based Regional Capability Leader for IT in EMEA. The EMEA IT PAM is part of a global IT practice support team, which includes a Global IT Practice Area Manager, a Senior IT Knowledge Specialist, and, in the future, a dedicated Practice Area Consultant.
