  • Overview

    The Human Resource Manager (HRM) directs activities across core functional areas of Human Resources to ensure delivery of high quality service to customers.  The HRM will directly supervise the Human Resources and Office Services team as well as provide professional development advice and support to DC employee population.  The HRM is responsible for the daily administration of office functions, including, but not limited to, compensation, HRIS, people movement, induction, on-boarding, hiring and departures.  Successful implementation of the various programs requires strong program management skills, thorough knowledge of policies and procedures and effective communications with the Director, Consulting Operations, Office Head, HR Partner, Staffing Manager and the Regional/Global HR team.


    This role will be a culture carrier for all Consulting Support Staff (CSS), which requires the HRM to understand employee morale, sustainability, and any other issues. This role will be required to use initiative to support Office Head in strategically thinking about the need of the CSS population to drive change to ensure employee engagement.


    • Implement global HR programs and designs local programs as necessary
    • Work collaboratively with Director, Consulting Operations, Office Head and HR Partner to develop people strategy and implement tracking against plan
    • Manage and administer HR programs and activities including Start-up/Induction, Compensation and, Employee Relations
    • Liaise with Global and Regional HR on the visa/immigration process for new hires, current employees and transfers
    • Provide leadership to office on HR Risk Management
      • Keeps abreast of existing/changing employment laws
      • Works closely with legal to ensure that all policies/practices are in concert with local employment law
      • Educates/advises management as necessary (ongoing and ad hoc)
      • Works collaboratively with Center and Risk Team on investigations and resulting actions
      • Works collaboratively with leadership team to communicate and provide direction on matters related to policy and employment law
    • Act as a confidential resource to employees, providing guidance and direction around sensitive employee relations issues
    • Act as an ombudsman and “eyes and ears” of office or region (morale, culture, overall employee satisfaction)
    • Build strong relationships with all CSS, being an adviser, influencer and change agent for all key business decisions and PD initiatives within the CSS population.
    • Administer semi-annual and annual administrative review process for local CSS staff, including creating and updating review forms, assisting Partners and Managers with compensation decisions and approving reviews
    • Provide comprehensive program management for all consulting staff HR/PD programs including:
      • Administer compensation program
      • Support Director, Consulting Programs, HR Partner, Program Manager and Promotion Committees with promotion processes
      • Coordinate departures to ensure smooth transition
    • Manage and oversee daily operations of HR, EA/MA and Office Service team:
      • Coach and develop all three direct reports – Team Lead, EA/MA, Sr. Coordinator, HR, Sr. Coordinator, Office Services
      • Monitor department efficiency
      • Develop annual operating budgets
      • Ensure high quality of service and office cleanliness
    • Attend monthly office Leadership Team and Manager meetings
    • Work on special project and assignments with Office Head as needed
    • Actively participate as member of worldwide HR manager team
    • Participation in regional HR Manager calls and annual WW HR Manager meeting
    • Ad hoc project work and experience sharing as necessary
    • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties and special projects as needed


    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience is required
    • A minimum of 8+ years professional experience is required, 4+ years managing HR staff
    • Prior experience working in a professional services firm preferred
    • Strong customer service, meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills necessary
    • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required
    • Ability to deal with highly confidential information appropriately; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
    • Detailed knowledge of Federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations required. Knowledge of US immigration laws preferred.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint is required
    • Ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast paced environment, under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with the highest levels of professionalism
