  • Overview

    As a Project Manager in the Technology Services Group (TSG), you will independently manage software solutions projects across operational firm initiatives. This could include playing a key role in Bain’s new business acquisitions by supporting the IT integration process or managing the successful delivery of software projects from a TSG perspective.  To be effective in this role, you will need to establish a comprehensive understanding of Bain’s business needs in order to support strategic planning, and implement solutions that generate value for the firm.  This position requires a mix of technical, business, interpersonal, and leadership skills to liaise between technical/business teams, manage meetings effectively, proactively identify and handle risks, recommend solutions, manage vendors, and tailor communications to audiences of various levels/functions. 

    Responsibilities

    • Partner with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. Contribute to the decision making process, balancing business goals with technical implementations. Promote collaboration across the various groups.
    • Work as a thought partner with the business to create the vision for the software solution, solve business problems, and create and deliver communications for senior stakeholders
    • Manage vendor engagements and foster accountability for deliverables, timeline, and quality during program / project delivery
    • Explain business needs to the technical teams and technical trade-offs to customer team. Understand technical complexity and business requirements sufficiently to communicate to all audiences effectively
    • Assess risk exposure and elevate appropriate issues and options to TSG Leadership Team
    • Define project plan and resource requirements (facilitate discussion around goals/deliverables, schedule tasks, identify risks, and plan contingencies). When appropriate, recommend options for resolving project resource constraints (customer and/or TSG)
    • Elicit business requirements and coach customer team in creating actionable documentation/specifications, including use case scenarios, models, and diagrams to support agile development
    • Identify opportunities for change and convey the need for change based on knowledge and experience of the business processes
    • Anticipate customer needs and propose business solutions
    • Identify and act upon opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships
    • Prepare project status and meeting notes, keep management and others informed of project status
    • Work with QA and the customer to develop user testing plans and procedures
    • Ensure all TSG deliverables (primarily the applications) are complete before they are delivered to the customer
    • Update bug tracking system (TFS) with bugs and recommendations for changes for each application tested. Review and prioritize functionality, enhancements, and bugs
    • Assist in the architecture and execution of data conversion and loading plans
    • Participate in user training and on-site implementation where required
    • Coordinate with the technical teams to ensure processes are established for the deployment
    • Provide second-line implementation support during the initial implementation period
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • 3 to 5 years of business experience, including 2+ years of project management responsibilities
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills
      • Ability to help the business formulate/articulate a decision on the course of action and communicate that message to all levels of the organization.
      • Aptitude to follow technical discussions and bridge communications between the business and technical teams.
    • Proficiency for analytical problem resolution
    • Attention to detail
    • Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for technology
    • Ability to work independently and with teams on complex problems
    • ‘Self-starter’ with ability to proactively identify value-add opportunities and act on them
    • High performance and standards as demonstrated by academic or previous job experience
    • Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science or Business or related experience
