    Global training at Bain builds capabilities through a range of learning options including face to face experiential programs, apprenticeship, coaching, mentoring, social, and self-directed digital content. We are currently embarking on a process of increasing the use of digital/online learning at Bain including developing the “next generation” learning content to complement our award winning in-person programs. The Specialist, Digital Learning Experience Design will collaborate with content developers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to determine skills gaps/learning needs, design/develop high quality learning materials, and partner with external vendors to manage the content production process. The role is primarily focused on digital content development.

    Responsibilities

    Partner with content team to determine skill gaps/learning needs for Bain audiences for existing or new content

     

    • Conduct needs assessments and strategic learning assessments to develop the basis for content development; separate nice to know from need to know (content limiting)
    • Set up, run, and report on all aspects of qualitative and quantitative user experience research to develop deep understanding of consultant/consulting support staff workflows
    • Define instructional, learning, or performance objectives based on needs assessments
    • Identify content gaps and recommend an annual content plan, proposing modules to upgrade, and new content to develop
    • Recommend changes to content or delivery methods, based on information such as instructional effectiveness data, current or future performance requirements, feasibility, and costs
    • Collaborate with training team members and Bain departments to maintain and prioritize content development backlog according to global training priorities
    • Assess effectiveness and efficiency of programs and content according to ease of use, achievement of learning outcomes, knowledge transfer, and net promoter score
    • Develop measurement tools to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction or learning content

    Design/Develop high quality learning materials using proven instructional design methodologies, adult learning theory, and relevant Bain experience

     

    • Proactively develop and update content, individually or in collaboration with departments, practice areas, experts or consulting staff, in accordance with the annual content plan
    • Research, brainstorm, and storyboard concepts for a variety of learning interactions
    • Recommend instructional methods, such as individual or group instruction, self-study, games, simulations, exercises, and role-plays, appropriate for content and learner characteristics
    • Design and build visually compelling, high impact and interactive learning modules and experiences, complementing in-person programs with instructional aids, videos, infographics, eLearning, handouts, assessment, simulations, exercises, podcasts, and performance support
    • Identify the appropriate method to achieve the desired outcomes, incorporating best practices in instructional design and blended learning
    • Adapt instructional materials created for one format to another (e.g. face-to-face to e-learning) and lead technology-based redesign of modules and digital twin programs
    • Adapt instructional content or delivery methods for different levels or types of learners
    • Provide technical advice on instructional design methods and the use of current instructional technologies, including computer-based training, desktop videoconferencing, multimedia, distance learning technologies, and ways to integrate technology with training
    • Provide guidance and support to consulting staff who are developing modules
    • Ensure application of best practices across digital content library
    • Contribute to a global training newsletter and/or top tips emails/infographics and/or internal social media, ensuring relevant people are informed of new content

    Partner with external vendors to manage the content production process

     

    • Lead the production of storyboards and eLearning courses to a high standard
    • Oversee collaboration with internal & vendor teams to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget
    • Collaborate in the development and production phases of quality e-learning educational products (e.g., e-books, webinars, e-learning stand-alone activities)
    • Create a project pipeline from inception to completion (plan, develop, produce, deliver)

    Perform other duties and projects as assigned or as responsibilities dictate

    Qualifications

    • BA/BS or equivalent, with strong academic credentials
    • 3-5 years of experience with content development including experience using multi-media development software (authoring software, video creation tools, graphic development tools, etc.)
    • Experience developing learning content using principles and methods for instructional design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of outcomes
    • Experience with computer based learning development software (e.g. Adobe Suite including Creative Cloud/Photoshop/Connect, Articulate, Captivate, Microsoft Sway/Mix)
    • Experience creating audio/video assets using development software (Audacity, Sound Forge, iMovie, Video, YouTube, Camtasia, Final Cut)
    • Experience partnering with vendors to manage production process of digital learning assets
    • Experience with design thinking, user experience, and user interface design – knowledge of basic coding and website design a plus
    • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; qualitative and quantitative research methods
    • Knowledge of SCORM, AICC, xAPI and learning management/content management systems
    • Experience with technology – mobile/social/online tools
    • Passion for business and learning, intellectual curiosity, and learning agility
    • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels with limited supervision
    • Ability to take initiative, lead project execution, propose and execute changes
    • Ability to self-motivate and work semi-autonomously with strong time management skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent team player
    • Knowledge of PC applications, including Microsoft Power Point, Excel and Word
    • Ideally willing to be located in any US office or London
