    Knowledge Management is critical to harness the best of our consulting staffs’ individual and collective expertise.  For over 20 years, Bain’s Practices have supported case teams across the globe with industry, capability, and enabler expertise and knowledge. Our practices are critical to Bain’s commercial success and are a key strategic priority.

     

    THE ROLE

     

    This position is a full-time roll that provides rotational cover and additional support to different Practice Areas as needs arise in the business. If there are times when no additional Practice support is needed, the role may also provide help to busy Practices that are fully staffed or to the program, product, or operations teams in Knowledge Management.  The Knowledge Specialist Floater will get broad exposure to a variety of Practices.

     

    Knowledge Specialists play a critical role in supporting Bain’s ability to deliver outstanding results for our clients. We are looking for an individual who has a strong interest in working to optimize knowledge capture operations and support, can run our end-to-end knowledge management processes, play a leadership role in coordinating with other Practices, and work closely with the assigned Practice team on projects supporting operations and product development.  We are looking for an individual who has a passion for learning new topics and an ability to nimbly shift between new Practice assignments. 

     

    Responsibilities

    WHAT WILL YOU DO? 

    Coordinate, manage or lead the capture and sharing of Bain’s knowledge base within the relevant Practice.

    • Capture and process knowledge onto Bain’s global intranet platform from client development and case team efforts
      • Coordinate with other Knowledge Specialists to identify cross practice content priorities and identify gaps in the knowledge base
      • Contact case teams and practice affiliates to understand work and solicit most relevant content
      • Manage metadata to facilitate user searching
    • Package and codify Bain’s best thinking into insights, consistent with Bain’s confidentiality guidelines
    • Manage and maintain Practice page(s) on Bain’s intranet; ensure best materials are represented and shared

     

    Arm Partners and other members of the consulting staff with Bain’s best intellectual property and expertise.

    • Provide value-added front-line support to case teams by sharing curated “best of” Bain content, experience and perspectives
    • Connect experts during case selling and serving situations
    • Support proposal development in select situations e.g. customized experience slides

     

    Contribute to the development and execution of the assigned Practice strategy.

    • Track and analyze underlying drivers of practice performance
    • Assist with content planning and logistics for annual practice meetings
    • Drive practice affiliate engagement, including preparation for experience sharing calls and publications
    • Review Knowledge Management and other metrics to improve how Bain captures and shares its intellectual property

     

    Actively contribute to the assigned Practice and broader Product, Practice, & Knowledge team, in line with Bain’s Operating Principles

    • Contribute as a member of PPK and the larger Bain community (e.g. participate in PPK group projects, training, experience sharing, mentoring and other initiatives)
    • Regularly communicate issues and progress to supervisor, as required, including quality control of junior team member’s output
    • Demonstrate flexibility with the changing demands of the industry, the leadership team, commercial demand for varying products

    Liaise with others as necessary, including members of other global services departments

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

     

    • BA, or equivalent undergraduate degree required with strong academic credentials
    • 3+ years of experience in a professional services firm environment with exposure to one or more of the following functional disciplines: knowledge management, consulting, marketing, research, finance, strategic planning, business development, product development, and/or project management; advanced degree a plus
    • Good business sense combined with structured problem-solving and analytical abilities
    • Desire to work in a fast-paced and sometimes demanding professional environment, with an exceptional ability to juggle multiple priorities at one time
    • Attentive to detail and very organized, commitment to high-quality work
    • Intellectual curiosity, thirst for learning new topics and ways of working in a short amount of time
    • Ability to self-motivate and work autonomously, whilst appreciating guided coaching and collaborative teaming
    • Willingness to team with colleagues across the globe and in different time zones
    • Superior customer service attitude
    • Positive mindset; high levels of energy and enthusiasm
    • Excellent written and verbal ability
    • Strong communication and presentation skills – ability to engage with senior business executives
    • Strong proficiency in Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Word
