Published intellectual property represents a substantial marketing investment for Bain. The editorial department develops all of Bain’s global publications and the Coordinator, Marketing Operations supports the smooth operation of our editorial production on a daily basis, helps track multiple projects across the entire editorial team, and is responsible for measuring our production on a regular basis. Specifically, the Coordinator, Marketing Operations works with the Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Editor to maintain critical team documentation, post and maintains online publications pages, track key editorial metrics, produce analyses to gauge editorial production and marketing return-on-investment, and supports the internal and external distribution of Bain Insights.

The role emphasizes analytical marketing and careful content management, and requires advanced spreadsheet skills and attention to editorial detail as well as familiarity with HTML and content management systems. This role may offer the opportunity to oversee and guide the rollout of a new content and workflow tracking system. The role may also provide opportunities for management of interns and teams.




  • Maintains Editorial team’s master project log, tracking all content from the development stage through to completion
  • Maintains key strategic metrics tracking the Editorial team’s core projects, activities and results
  • Coordinates with senior members of the team to ensure that all projects are reflected in centralized documentation
  • Provides insight into continuous improvement of metrics tracking and reporting




  • Produces regular and ad hoc analyses for Bain partners, the Editorial team and marketing department, including annual reports and updates
  • Supports creation of presentation materials using key metrics
  • Uses online reporting tools to build custom reports on the performance of Bain Insights
  • Plays key role in coordinating and reporting analyses with other teams in the marketing department
  • Provides project management and oversight for ad hoc strategic initiatives as they arise
  • Leads process to implement and report results from key strategic investments
  • Continually looks for ways to use analysis to meet firm objectives and to improve reporting and feedback, including the development and implementation of dashboards and surveys of internal customers
  • Coordinates the Editorial Net Promoter System effort, sending feedback requests to internal customers, collating and analyzing responses and providing regular reports to the Editor-in-Chief

Insights distribution


  • Responds to article and metrics inquiries from internal teams and otherwise serves as a resource to local marketing contacts around the globe
  • Creates monthly and quarterly updates on key publications for distribution throughout the firm Supports syndication efforts internationally by tracking submissions and suggesting candidates for submission.
  • Leads key strategic update process to firm leadership, which requires HTML coding and project management skills


Content management


  • Responsible for the zero-defect translation of printed content into HTML format and posting on 
  • Enters and updates editorial content in online content management system to be published to and related microsites, ensuring content is appearing correctly and is properly tagged for internal tracking systems
  • Works with Web Designer and Online Editor to include appropriate imagery on
  • Develops best practices for using Bain’s content management system and maintains/updates documentation of same
  • Maintains master manuscript files including all self-published and externally published bylines
  • Acts as liaison between freelancers and article-tracking system, maintaining key drafts and backup materials for all freelancer-produced content 
  • Provides backup support as needed for creation of content sent through Bain’s direct email marketing platform
  • Proactively offers suggestions for continuous improvement of editorial processes




  •  Proactively assists in keeping the team running smoothly
  • Manages the onboarding and payment process for freelancers and editorial vendors
  • Tracks and oversees long-term initiatives and goals
  • Organizes the editorial offsite: Working within budget parameters, plans the annual offsite for editorial team members, including venue selection, contract negotiation, activity planning and execution/logistics during event


  • Bachelor’s Degree with strong academic or professional focus on analytics
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Advanced Power Point skills
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
  • Familiarity with, or demonstrated ability to learn, HTML and content management systems required
  • Familiarity with content work planning systems such as Kapost, Smartsheets, Wrike, Asana or Jira a plus
  • At least one year of experience in a professional services firm preferred
  • Attention to detail, effective time management and strong verbal and written communication skills are required–including thorough knowledge of grammar and punctuation
  • Candidates must possess a proven ability to learn quickly, multitask and work independently
