Overview

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, performs accounting functions in the corporate general ledger group that reports Bain & Company’s worldwide financial position. Analyzes financial data, maintains and develops accounting controls designed to safeguard company assets, and prepares management reports.

Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensure global offices are recognizing revenue in accordance with Bain policies and US GAAP.
  • Prepare detailed schedules of global accounts receivable balances and analyses for presentation to senior management on a monthly basis, including detailed analyses of outstanding receivables by client and DSO.
  • Review and post journal entries for North American and Corporate offices.
  • Review and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy.
  • Assist in the analysis and development of internal controls for safeguarding company assets. Develop documentation of procedures and recommendations for process improvements.
  • Assist in the annual conversion of accrual basis financial statements to cash of global offices for the US consolidated tax return.
  • Accumulate, journalize, reconcile and report on worldwide financial information for specific transactions and programs. Prepare financial reports for internal and/or external distribution
  • Prepare detailed audit schedules for interim and year-end reviews by independent auditors.
  • Represent the company as a highly visible customer service representative, both internally and externally, including inquiries from cost center managers, international controllers, staff, etc.
  • Perform diversified duties for departmental and corporate requirements, and perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of four years accounting experience required, CPA required.
  • Knowledge of standard accounting principles, methods, and applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies, and/or procedures in a manner easily understood.
  • Knowledge of computer information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications
  • Ability to set up and maintain financial accounts and ledgers.
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting control procedures.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
