Position Summary:

Bain’s global training team is currently embarking on a process of increasing the use of digital/online learning at Bain including the use of virtual facilitation to support our award winning training programmes.  The Senior Coordinator, Digital Learning will create a new virtual channel to increase the speed of learning across the organization.  They will partner with subject matter experts to develop new content and/or repurpose existing content for use in synchronous virtual instructor-led training (VILT) and/or blended learning programmes.  They will host engaging, interactive virtual learning experiences designed to elevate the skills and performance of consultants and consulting support staff team members across the global organization.  The role is primarily focused on the before, during and after of a virtual event including supporting the facilitator, participants and technology.  They will utilize interactive tools within virtual learning platforms to maximize learner engagement in order to drive adoption for the new content channel.


Collaborate with training team members, Bain departments and practices to develop and/or transition to virtual facilitation

  • Consult with training team members, Bain departments and practices to identify potential new content or repurposed existing in-person content to virtual sessions providing instructional design input and offering options to increase interactivity
  • Partner with global training content team, departments, and practices to design engaging virtual sessions to meet emerging business needs
  • Create learner-centric collaborative exercises using synchronous online tools
  • Develop virtual companion/participant workbooks to complement virtual sessions
  • Identify content gaps and provide input into an annual virtual plan, proposing modules to upgrade, virtual training sessions to host, and content to create
  • Upload and maintain virtual sessions in Bain's learning system, ensuring application of best practices across digital content
  • Work with key stakeholders from all around the Bain system who provide content, to ensure materials are updated regularly
  • Collaborate with training liaisons, alumni, and program leads to effectively schedule virtual training events
  • Provide guidance and support to global training, consulting staff, or CSS team members who are developing virtual sessions

Host highly interactive virtual learning experiences designed to elevate performance

  • Manage virtual training sessions agreed upon in the annual content plan, identifying facilitators, setting up and managing sessions and subsequently posting recordings to the learning system
  • Prepare themselves, facilitators, learners, and the technology via rehearsals, participant communication, logistical set-up, and early arrival to sessions
  • Host frequent virtual sessions, track participation, moderate time, mark attendance, offer supporting commentary, and co-facilitate/backup as needed
  • Maximize learner engagement through effective use of interactivity tools including chat, polls, breakout rooms, Q&A panels, screen sharing, whiteboards, streaming videos, and activities
  • Act as participant advocate; read the non-verbal body language cues of participants
  • Kickoff sessions and create an environment of trust; welcome participants, review housekeeping and objectives, ensure technology is working, review session tools, and introduce the facilitator
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues for participants (WebEx, audio/visual equipment, teleconferencing phone, VOIP, internet connection, Skype for Business)
  • Train new team members and other departments on relevant learning virtual technology
  • Build and maintain high level of technical proficiency with all current and emerging virtual learning platforms and related technology (e.g. WebEx, Adobe Connect, etc.)
  • Partner with Digital Learning Systems Specialist to maintain technical integration with other Bain HR and learning systems and resolve system incidents and problems

Measure the effectiveness and drive adoption and utilization of virtual learning

  • Monitor effectiveness of virtual sessions and assess achievement of learning objectives; prepare reports summarizing results and implement enhancements
  • Coordinate post-session reinforcement, practice exercises, evaluations, and reporting as required
  • Partner with Digital Learning Systems Specialist to maintain regular metrics to support analysis and measurement of virtual program and content effectiveness
  • Actively promote the virtual learning as an effective and viable learning modality amongst consulting and support staff team members
  • Prepare and distribute schedules of distance learning resources, such as course offerings, virtual classroom sessions, live Q&A, and online learning material
  • Launch and promote new virtual training sessions; continually evolve virtual training offerings
  • Communicate technical or marketing information via emails, advertisements, and internal social media to inform learners about upcoming virtual events
  • Serve as ambassador for virtual education documenting best practices, training virtual facilitators, and educating others on the value of virtual learning

Perform other duties and projects as assigned or as responsibilities dictate


  • BA/BS or equivalent, with strong academic credentials
  • 1-3 years of experience with virtual facilitation platforms; ideally WebEx Meeting/Event/Training Centers, Skype, and/or Adobe Connect
  • 1-3 years of experience creating, hosting and/or facilitating interactive virtual instructor led training
  • Ability to troubleshoot user and presenter issues during sessions/on-the-fly under pressure
  • Clear and polished verbal communication skills and experience of developing presentation content
  • Ability to read virtual non-verbal “body language” or digital cues during training sessions
  • Natural ability to improvise - always has a plan B and often a plan C
  • A warm and welcoming demeanor
  • Preferably knowledge of LMS functionality, data access, system utilization and reporting
  • Passion for business and learning, intellectual curiosity, and learning agility
  • Ability to self-motivate and work semi-autonomously
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite software , including Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint, Power Point, Excel and Word
  • English fluency
